This year there are also participants in La Manga, Los Nietos, El Puntal and Atamaría
Los Belones in the Cartagena municipality has decided to try and restore one of the most popular culinary traditions in the area post- Covid lockdown and will be running its XI Ruta de la Tapa and the campaign to sweeten your life in Los Belones `Endúlzate la vida en Los Belones´between the 1st and 20th July. This year the route will run with 12 participants offering a selected tapa and a drink for 3.50 euros, or coffee and a sweet dish or dessert, also for 3.50 euros. This year there are also participants in La Manga, Los Nietos, El Puntal and Atamaría and the route will NOT run on Sundays as this is generally the busiest day and this year the organisers are keen to avoid crowds in the participating establishments.Normally the annual tapas routes are very busy, but obviously this year the hostelries are expecting to sell considerably lower numbers of their selected plate of food than normal, allowing for social distancing and hygiene measures in the bars and restaurants concerned. The route in Los Belones takes the standard format: a route map can be collected from participating hostelries, showing the participating establishments and the tapa they offer. Armed with the map, “taperos” select the tapa they would like to try, then set off and find the establishment, order the tapa and ask for the route card to be stamped as proof of purchase. Taperos then mark the quality of the tapa sampled between 0 and 5.
There is no set schedule, visitors can visit as few or as many establishments as they want to, and the route can be revisited at any time during the promotion.
Those purchasing three tapas and two sweet dishes can enter their stamped route cards in a prize draw depositing the cards in the voting urns provided.
