3-year-old British girl drowns after falling into swimming pool without her parents knowing
The family were staying at a villa in the Costa del Sol when the tragedy occurred
A 3-year-old British girl drowned in the Spanish province of Málaga after she fell into a swimming pool and her parents didn’t even realise.
Authorities rushed to the scene of the accident after receiving the emergency call but the girl was found dead at the scene.
Police have now launched an investigation into the incident but believe the tragedy to be an accident.
A spokesman for the rescue team said, “A three-year-old girl has died today in a swimming pool in the Torrox area of the province of Málaga. We received a call at noon... emergency responders were immediately activated and attempts were made to save the girl’s life.”
A helicopter was mobilised for the situation, along with the civil guard, local police and health professionals.
Those on the scene later confirmed the little girl had died without offering any more details about the circumstances of how the tragedy happened.
It is believed that the girl lived with her family and two other siblings at the house on the Costa de Sol.
Óscar Medina, mayor of Torrox, described the girl’s death as a “tragic incident” and added, “I offer my sincere and profound condolences to the family in the name of all local residents.”
