ARCHIVED - 95 per cent of local medical centres will re-open in the Cartagena Health Area within the next few days
Adaptations are being made to centres as normality gradually returns to the Murcia health service
Little by little, despite the continuing threat of the coronavirus pandemic and the overstretching of health service resources, a semblance of normality is returning to the way in which medical attention is provided in the Health Area of Cartagena (II) by the SMS Murcia health service.
Although this specific information relates to the Cartagena health area, health centre and consultorio services are also re-opening widely across the region in the other health areas as well.
This is reflected in the plans to re-open another ten local medical centres in the course of the next few days, bringing the proportion of centres open up to 95 per cent after the problems caused by the third wave of Covid contagion following the Christmas and New Year holidays. In the meantime many of the smaller centres have undergone modifications to their layouts in order to adjust the ways in which patients are received and seated awaiting medical attention.
The 16 main health centres in the area are already fully open, as are 29 of the 41 local “consultorios” (excluding those which come into service during the summer for seasonal tourists), and it has now been announced that further re-openings are now ready to take place. The consultorios still waiting to open their doors to patients again are those of Los Mateos (scheduled for Monday 26th April), Santa Ana (in Los Dolores), La Magdalena, San Isidro, Las Lomas del Albujón and Playa Paraíso, all in the municipality of Cartagena, El Escobar, Los Almagro, Los Cánovas and El Estrecho in Fuente Álamo, and La Majada in Mazarrón.
