ARCHIVED - Cartagena markets will fully re-open from 8th June
12 markets are held weekly in the Cartagena municipality
Market vendors and Cartagena council have reached an agreement to re-open all 12 regular street markets within the municipality fully from June 8th onwards as the region hopefully moves into phase 3.
At the moment only stalls selling food products are available, but from 8th June the markets will spread out into neighbouring streets to create more space, permitting attendees to social distance and observe hygiene recommendations as well as giving shoppers a much wider choice of products.
Across the region market traders selling clothing, footwear and household goods have been complaining about being prevented from selling their stock and their inability to earn a living.
Cartagena has 12 markets which open weekly in the differnt districts of the municipality throughout the year: Barrio Peral, Los Belones, calle Ribera San Javier (Cenit), La Aljorra, Los Dolores, La Palma, El Algar, Llano del Beal, Pozo Estrecho, Urbanización Mediterráneo, Cabo de Palos and Barriada San Cristóbal.
