Free guided tours in Águilas during October
-Saturday October 2, 9.30am: “Marina de Cope” route
Duration: two and a half hours
Difficulty: Low, 4.7 km.
Leaves from: 37.469325 -1.499722
This route includes the Cabo Cope regional park and the Puntas del Calnegre, allowing participants to enjoy the natural scenery on offer, as well as walking through nesting areas for different bird species, Roman remains, a crypto-wetland located on the Saladar beach and even a thermal water spring.
Comfortable clothing and footwear, a hat, water and sun cream are recommended for this tour.
-Saturday October 9, 10am: Historic Centre tour

Duration: two hours.
This tour takes participants through the port and Plaza de España and past important monuments and buildings, such as the Ícaro (carnival monument), Ferrocarril monument, Archaeological Museum and San José Church, as well as the newly opened Águilas Carnival Museum.
Águilas is one of the most historic towns on the Costa Cálida and this guided tour will allow participants to better understand the rich history of Águilas as well as learning more about the famous Carnival hosted by the municipality every year.
-Saturday October 16, 10am: "Mr Gilman and El Hornillo" tour

Duration: two hours.
This tour allows participants to experience the history of the traders and industrialists who played such an important role in the economy of Águilas in the second half of the 19th century and the first 30 years of the 20th, among them Gustavo Gillman. The route includes the Monument to the Railway, the bridge over the Rambla de las Culebras, the Sendero del Hornillo, the museum which has been created in the railway tunnel, the Embarcadero del Hornillo loading jetty and the railway station.
-Sunday October 24, 10am: “Four Coves” route

Duration: two and a half hours
The ‘Four Coves’ tour visits the protected natural area of Cuatro Calas, which is named as a Place of Community Interest in the European Commission’s Red Natura 2000, to enjoy the natural scenery and cultural elements on offer.

Some Covid rules apply to the guided tours, such as the use of masks, social distancing between different households and the use of hand sanitizer provided by the tour guide. The maximum group size is 15 people and the tours may be cancelled due to the weather.

Programme at the Infanta Doña Elena Auditorium
-Saturday October 2, 8.30pm: 'Anfitrión' by Moliere, directed by Juan Carlos Rubio and included in the Classical Mérida Theatre International Festival.
-Monday October 11 to Friday October 15: Lyrical Singing Masterclasses including brething techniques and introduction to 'bel' singing, with a final concert by the participants at 7.30pm on October 15.
-Friday October 15, 9.30pm: 'Espíritu' by Santi Rodriguez. Tickets from 16 euros.
-Sunday October 17, 8pm: 'Carmen', a four part opera by Georges Bizet (original version in French with subtitles in Spanish). Tickets from 28 euros.
Tickets can be bought at the Archaeological Museum, the Culture House (Casa de Cultura) or online. Tickets can also be bought two hours before the event at the Infanta Doña Elena Auditorium.
Exhibitions at the Auditorium
-August 13 to October 31: 'From Iberia to Spain through Maps', exhibition on display at the Auditorium's Hall from 7pm to 10pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
-October 7 to 31: XIV Autumn Room 2021, on display in the Temporary Exhibitions Room. Visiting hours are 6pm to 9pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
