ARCHIVED - Exercise period extended to 6am to 11pm for municipalities of 5-10,000 inhabitants
Six more Murcian municipalities have now joined the list of those which allow unlimited exercising and walking
During the weekly video conference between the presidents of the 17 autonomous governments of Spain and the national government on Sunday, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that the government will extend the permitted exercise period from 6am to 11pm to all population nuclei of less than 10,000 inhabitants.
When the phase zero de-escalation began, exercising hours were established for all ages, the only exceptions being population nuclei of less than 5,000 inhabitants. This has now been extended to those with 5,000-10,000 inhabitants.
In some larger municipalities the councils took the decision to permit outlying areas to exercise freely, reasoning that the concentration of population was low and therefore less risk of contagion existed (this included Lorca, Murcia city and Torre Pacheco, although in the latter this was complicated as some golf resorts were allowed to exercise freely but others were not) but others applied the legislation to the letter, including Cartagena and Mazarrón.
In reality, there seems to be a bit of a free-for-all out there; yesterday after shopping in the market in Mazarrón there were groups of cyclists still exercising on the road heading towards Cartagena well after 10am!.
Existing municipalities of the Region of Murcia which fall into the 5,000 or less category:Albudeite, Aledo, Campos del Río, Ojós, Pliego, Ricote, Ulea, Villanueva del Río Segura.
Municipalities with 5-10,000 which are now able to exercise, walk freely and join the list from Monday 18th: Abanilla, Alguazas, Blanca, Librilla, Lorquí, Moratalla
For anyone who is still confused about exercising rules:
Those exercising should maintain a 2 metre distance from other people, avoid un-necessary stops, comply with hygiene restrictions and only exercise during the permitted time slots.
There is no limit to the amount of time an individual may exercise.
Adults (aged 14 to 69); 06:00 to 10:00 and again from 20:00 and 23:00.
Adults will be permitted to walk in pairs, provided that these same two people have been living together during the period of confinement, and children aged 14 and over are also included within this grouping.
A carer may walk with a patient. Anyone showing symptoms of Covid-19 is excluded from the physical activity as is anyone in quarantine.
Children 12:00 to 19:00.
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Walks with dependents (ie elderly with a carer) and those aged 70+ 10:00 to 12:00 and 19:00 to 20:00
Sportsmen/women; the same as for adults
