February stays chilly with strong winds and more rain: Alicante weather forecast February 5-8
Weather alerts for very strong winds are still in place as the unsettled weather continues in the Alicante province

Storm Leonardo is making its presence felt across Spain this week, with Andalucía bearing the brunt of the heavy rain and flooding. In Alicante, the effects are less severe, but the knock-on impact is enough to keep the weather unsettled as February continues much as it began.
The next few days will bring cooler temperatures, more rain at times and strong winds that are not letting up yet. Wind alerts remain in place, so conditions may be tricky at times.
Thursday February 5

Thursday looks like it will be grey for much of the day, with plenty of cloud around. A little light rain is possible, mainly inland, although most areas will stay dry. Temperatures remain on the cool side, and the west wind will be quite noticeable, particularly away from the coast.
Friday February 6

Friday will be even greyer and the temperatures will drop even further. The wind will be strong and more noticeable along the coast. There will also be spells of light, patchy rain throughout the day.
Saturday February 7

Saturday will be even worse, unfortunately, with even thicker cloud cover and rain looking likely all across the province. Inland and higher areas could also see snow on the mountains, but well above the coastal level. Expect the temperatures to drop again, making one of the coldest days over the weekend. The wind will still be a problem, especially inland, where conditions could be difficult at times.
Sunday February 8

The weather will stay unsettled on Sunday, with a chance of light, scattered rain possible throughout the day. The wind will continue to be a problem and so it will feel cold and wintry.
Even though Storm Leonardo is hitting Andalucía hardest, it will still make its presence known for the rest of the week in the Alicante province. There are weather alerts in place for strong wind so keep an eye out for any updates as they may change.
Local town halls have decided to close public spaces like parks in some areas because of the wind, so you can follow your local town hall social media page for more information. Take care and make sure to follow the local recommendations!

Minimum and maximum temperatures:
- Thursday February 5: Min 8ºC, Max 18ºC
- Friday February 6: Min 8ºC, Max 18ºC
- Saturday February 7: Min 5ºC, Max 16ºC
- Sunday February 8: Min 5ºC, Max 18ºC

Weather alerts
Strong winds continue to be the main concern for Alicante. Low-level yellow warnings are in place for much of the province, with gusts reaching up to 80kmh in the north and inland areas. Along the coast, southwesterly winds are expected at 50-60kmh, bringing rough seas with waves of 3-4 metres. It’s a good idea to be careful near exposed spots, piers and beaches, and take extra care if you’re travelling or out on the water.
