ARCHIVED - Flooding begins in Murcia and more rain is yet to come: October 22
Aemet has released further weather warnings across the Region of Murcia
Although the State Met Agency (Aemet) warned of intense rain across the Region on Friday October 22, some drivers were still caught out by the flooding, especially in some of the central municipalities such as Totana, Mula and Alhama de Murcia.
Totana registered 19 millilitres of water in an hour this morning, October 22, of which 9.2mm fell in just ten minutes, leading the Rambla to overflow and several roads to be cut off by the authorities.
Meanwhile in Mula, an intense downpour caused flooding in the Campo de la Retamosa, inundating some stretches of the RM-515 motorway and several roads in the municipality of Murcia were also affected.
Officers and authorities across the Region have warned drivers to take care and only drive where its safe to do so.
More rain is expected throughout the afternoon and Aemet has issued more yellow weather warnings for heavy rain in the Vega del Segura, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón areas, as well as in Lorca, Águilas and the Valle del Guadalentín area.
Aemet are also releasing frequent updates on Twitter about the location of the storms which are crossing over the Region:
#Chubascos y #tormentas en la #RegióndeMurcia a las 09:40h.

As per yesterday’s forecast, most of the rainy weather should have cleared up by Saturday October 23, with some wet patches along coastal regions.
