ARCHIVED - Free parking in Lorca for the whole of August
Lorca’s blue and green zones of its ORA car parks will be free throughout August for motorists
Lorca City Council will make parking free in 2,535 parking spaces across the municipality for the whole of this month.
The measure comes into force this Monday, August 1, and, until the end of the month, it will be free to park in the blue and green zones of Lorca, regulated by the ordinance of the ORA service managed by LIMUSA.
In September, it will once again be necessary to pay to park depending on how long you stay, and tickets can be purchased either at the authorised ticket dispensers or on the “EasyPark” app.
The Deputy Mayor of Lorca and Councillor for Public Enterprises, Francisco Morales, has stated that “during this month of August, the tax ordinance regulating the public prices applicable to the ORA service (Parking Regulation Ordinance) managed by the public company LIMUSA allows parking free of charge throughout the month of August in the blue zone. In addition, the green parking spaces for residents and accredited companies, which during the rest of the year are reserved for those who have the card corresponding to their area of residence, are also free for any vehicle.”
To ensure compliance with this temporary measure, which also meant that parking was free on Saturday mornings during the month of July, the ticket machines will be out of order for the remainder of August.
As well as having to pay once again come September, drivers should note that after the free parking measure in August comes to an end, it will be necessary to be in possession of an accreditation sticker for parking in the green zone, and place it somewhere visible on the windscreen of the vehicle.
The first working day of the ORA service after returning from the holidays will be Thursday 1 September. Payment will be compulsory every working day, including Saturday mornings, in accordance with the current tax ordinance.
The ORA service in Lorca has 2,535 parking spaces, of which 1,515 are in the green zone for businesses/residents reserved for vehicles registered with LIMUSA as beneficiaries and the remaining 1,014 are for general use, in blue. As a whole, this service regulates approximately 70 streets in the city, in which 37 parking metre machines are distributed, with the aim of providing the best service to motorists.
