Hotter days and stuffy nights: Alicante weather forecast August 4-7
The hottest days and the coolest nights will be inland while the coast will get back above 30ºC
A sunny Monday afternoon on the Costa Blanca
Monday, August 4
Alicante province is starting the week with intervals of low cloud early this morning, most or all of which should clear by lunchtime.
Temperatures are relatively unchanged, with highs of 29ºC along most of the Costa Blanca, but only 27ºC in Benidorm and up to 30ºC in Alicante city.
Inland will be hotter, particularly Cocentaina where it is expected to hit 34ºC.
The nights remain stubbornly stuffy, not dropping below 23ºC along much of the coast, and 25ºC in the Benidorm-Villajoyosa area.
There should be light breezes not exceeding about 15km/h during the day, from the east in the south of the province and from the south in the north.
Tuesday, August 5
Temperatures will feel hotter than they really are on the coast
Only a few, if any clouds are predicted for tomorrow, with rising temperatures, especially inland and not far from the coast.
It will hit 30ºC in many coastal areas, and 31ºC in Alicante city and north of Benitachell, while cities including Orihuela, Pego and Cocentaina could well reach 36ºC.
However, on the coast the heat index or apparent temperature may feel a few degrees higher than the actual reading, for example about 33ºC in Guardamar del Segura.
Winds will remain light throughout the day.
Wednesday, August 6
Temperatures are expected to rise on Wednesday
The high temperatures inland will continue into Wednesday, and increase slightly on the coast, with predicted highs reaching 32ºC in Alicante city, Calpe and Denia.
The night is unlikely to drop below 24-25ºC between Pilar de la Horadada in the south and Benidorm, dropping to 21ºC around Benitachell and Jávea and only going below 20ºC far inland between Pinoso and Villena.
Wind speeds should stay around 12km/h in the south of the province, dropping north of Alicante city as low as 4km/h in Denia.
Thursday, August 7
The heat is forecast to continue on Thursday
The skies are expected to remain mostly clear on Thursday, with some high clouds over Torrevieja and Orihuela in the late afternoon-evening.
Coastal high temperatures are around 31ºC or slightly higher in the north of the province, rising to 34ºC just inland in San Miguel de Salinas in the south, 35ºC in Algorfa, and 37ºC in many places inland and peaking at 38ºC in Cocentaina.
The warmest nights will be along the coast again, around 23ºC for most but up to 25ºC in Benidorm and slightly cooler at 21ªc around Jávea.
The wind is expected to be light easterly breezes of up to 15km/h.
