Imserso budget trips for pensioners in Spain 2024: where you can go and how to apply
Almost 900,000 budget holidays for destinations across Spain will be on offer
It’s time to start packing those suitcases as Spain's highly anticipated Imserso travel scheme for the 2023-2024 season is almost here, offering nearly 900,000 budget-friendly holidays across stunning destinations in Spain.
The initiative offers cheap vacations during the off-peak season to resident pensioners of any nationality, as well as their spouses, partners and children with disabilities.
Mark your calendars, because on September 23, you'll be racing to secure your spot in the sun.
This year, the programme boasts an impressive 886,269 seats, a significant increase from last year, giving pensioners even more chances to explore this beautiful country on a budget. The trips will be released in two blocks, so pay attention to the dates to ensure you don't miss out.
Block one goes on sale on September 23 and 24 (if all the holidays aren’t snapped up, it may be extended), offering trips to Andalucía, Aragon, Cantabria, Castilla y Leon, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Madrid, Melilla and the Region of Murcia.
Block two releases on September 25 and 26, with destinations including Asturias, Catalonia, Castile-La Mancha, Ceuta, Galicia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, La Rioja and the Basque Country.
Price list for the 2024-2025 Imserso travel scheme
Mainland Spain
Peninsular coastal areas (Andalucía, Catalonia, Murcia and the Valencian Community) with transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 290.07 euros and for a seven-night stay, 228.93 euros.
Peninsular coastal areas (Andalucía, Catalonia, Murcia and the Valencian Community) without transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 253.65 euros and for a seven-night stay, 210.72 euros.
The islands
Balearic Islands with transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 331.49 euros and for a seven-night stay, 267.63 euros.
Balearic Islands without transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 253.77 euros and for a seven-night stay, 210.47 euros.
Canary Islands with transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 435.95 euros and for a seven-night stay, 355.30 euros.
Canary Islands without transport: For a nine-night stay, the price will be 253.65 euros and for a seven-night stay, 210.39 euros.
The scheme also includes short getaways such as city breaks, cultural excursions and trips to the Spanish autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, which range from 124 euros to 293 euros.
So, who can join this exciting adventure?
Imserso has outlined four eligibility criteria:
- You must be a retired pensioner within the Spanish Social Security system.
- If you're a widow or widower, you need to be 55 years or older and receiving a pension from the Spanish Social Security system.
- Alternatively, you can be 60 or older and receiving a pension for other concepts within the Spanish Social Security system or be a recipient of unemployment benefits or subsidies.
- Be an insured or beneficiary of the Spanish Social Security System, of 65 years of age or older.
How to book and pay
Booking your dream Imserso getaway is easy. Simply visit accredited travel agencies with your DNI or head to the official website, www.turismosocial.com, where you'll need your accreditation code provided by Imserso.
To secure your spot, a fixed amount not exceeding 20% of the trip's total cost must be paid. This payment is due 45 days before your departure or at the time of booking if your trip falls in October or November and is booked less than 45 days in advance.
