ARCHIVED - Jumilla doubles its investment in promoting Holy Week 2022
The Murcia municipality plans to make this celebration “bigger and better” than ever

The Department of Tourism in Jumilla has decided to double its investment in the promotion of Holy Week in the Murcia municipality this year, and funds amounting to 19,000 euros will be dedicated to marketing the celebrations online, in the local media, on social networks and on billboards dotted throughout Murcia, Albacete and Alicante.
In all, the municipal contribution to Holy Week 2022 will exceed 100,000 euros.
Last month, the Town Hall promised that the festivities would return to Jumilla after a two-year absence “with all its splendour and bigger and better” than ever. To this end, two radio shows will broadcast live from the municipality on April 4 and 6 and the processions held on Holy Thursday and Good Friday will also be televised throughout the Region. In addition, an outdoor photography exhibition was inaugurated last Friday on Avenida de la Libertad in Murcia.
There will be no shortage of musical entertainment at this year’s Holy Week celebrations either: musical outfits AJAM and Julián Santos will open and close all the processions, the Coral Canticorum will take part in no fewer than three parades and the Jumilla Brass Quintet will perform in the procession on Saturday.
These events also will cost 25,350 euros and will be added to the additional 8,000 euros for other musical performances throughout the week.
For the first time ever, special lighting will illuminate the processions meandering along Portillo de la Glorieta, Pósito, Verónica, Plaza de Arriba and Barón del Solar at a cost of 11,000 euros.
Announcing the grand plans for the much-anticipated celebrations, the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, highlighted the “joint work” between the Council, the Central board of Brotherhoods, the Cristo de la Sangre Drum Association and the councillors for Tourism, Culture and Celebrations in organising Holy Week 2022, which is hoped will be “the best” event to date.
