ARCHIVED - Jumilla Drum Festival to make a return this Easter
After two years of cancellations, Jumilla processions and drums will make a rhythmic return to the streets
The Jumilla Drum Festival looks set to make a welcome return to Easter Week celebrations in April following two years of cancellations due to the pandemic.
Jumilla Town Hall, Central Board of Brotherhoods of Holy Week, and the Asociación de Tambores Cristo de la Sangre (Holy Blood of Christ Drum Association) confirmed on Monday February 14 that everybody is “working hard to resume the processions and drum parades for Jumilla’s Easter Week”.
“We are going to resume our Holy Week with all its splendour and bigger and better if possible, a lot of work has been done to avoid losing the essence of our traditions,” said town mayor, Juana Guardiola.
President of the Association of Drums, Francisco Guardiola, added that “during the last two years we have been adapting acts so that Holy Week is not lost in Jumilla”, but that “all the events are now prepared to enjoy Easter Week (April 10 to 17) as we know it”.
