ARCHIVED - Jumilla earmarks 42,000 euros for social, cultural and historical projects
Several worthy causes in the Murcia town are due to benefit from the windfall, including 15,000 euros for an association for children with disabilities
In its latest council session, the Town Hall of Jumilla has approved a total budget of 42,764.55 euros to be put towards several different projects that will boost the municipality’s level of social care, cultural, artistic and leisure activities and the regeneration of its historical structures.
Firstly, they gave the green light to a petition to spend 15,000 euros on a grant awarded to the Aspajunide disabled children’s association to finance the implementation of its social integration programme through leisure and free time activities for its members.
This will help the children and their parents to access the all-important social services and leisure time, improving their quality of life.
Then, Jumilla Town Council decided to give a grant of 10,000 euros to the Mental Health Association of Jumilla (ASAMJU) so they can implement their psychosocial care projects.
The final cultural grant that was awarded in the session was for 1,524.60 euros, and went to the Musical Association Julian Santos in its call for competitive concurrence for the development of cultural projects, such as the organisation of concerts and performing arts performances for the community, which it is expected will add to the rich cultural life of Jumilla town.
Lastly, there was an approval of the rehabilitation, repair and refurbishment works on the breakwater wall of the historic Puente del Poyo bridge for the amount of 16,239.95 euros.
