The forest fire declared in Sierra Larga, in the municipality of Jumilla, was extinguished at 8.47am on Thursday September 1, but not before destroying 410 hectares of land, according to sources from the Department of Emergencies.

The fire, which was started by a lightning strike at around midday last Saturday, August 27, spread to reach a perimeter of 27 kilometres.

After it was finally put out this morning, the Regional Ministry deactivated the Infomur Plan and the firefighting resources that had been deployed were withdrawn, except for an environmental agent and a forestry brigade from Jumilla, who remain in the area to carry out supervisory work.

The extinction management will deactivate the protocol this Friday, according to the same sources.
