Lo Pagán's Esplanade and new bike lane feature in €5 million makeover for San Pedro del Pinatar
Over the next three years, 25 projects will improve the streets, public spaces, sports facilities and services in the town

The San Pedro del Pinatar Town Hall has revealed a major plan to improve Lo Pagán, with 25 projects and more than €5 million of investment over the next three years. The plan, called Impulsa Lo Pagán (Boost Lo Pagán), was presented by Mayor Pedro Javier Sánchez to local businesses, associations and community groups at the town’s yacht club. It is designed to modernise the town and strengthen Lo Pagán as a year-round tourist town.
At the heart of the plan is a full refurbishment of the Lo Pagán Esplanade, which will be transformed with better surfaces, seating, and improved facilities overall to better accommodate events and fairs. A new bike lane will connect La Puntica promenade with Villananitos, and extra bike racks will be installed to encourage people to get around by bike.
The stage in Parque del Mar will also be opened up to face the sea, giving a clear view of the coastline and making the area feel more connected to the Mar Menor. Alongside these main projects, the plan includes improvements to streets and roads. The town centre will be made even more pedestrian-friendly with a smooth, continuous layout. Obstacles will also be removed from the streets, like poorly placed bins or old benches, and overhead cables will be gradually buried.
Community safety is another important part of the plan. Security cameras will be installed in strategic locations across the town and police presence will be increased.
The plan also covers improvements to San Pedro del Pinatar town centre, including more trees and shaded areas. A new system to move and manage rainwater will be installed in Calle Asturias to prevent flooding and improve drainage.
Upgraded sports facilities, new beach playgrounds, refurbished lifeguard huts, and the completion of the new Lo Pagán health centre are also on the agenda.
Mayor Sánchez said, “It is a complete plan to improve everyday life for residents and visitors and to make Lo Pagán shine as it deserves.”

Oficina de Turismo, San Pedro del Pinatar
The municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has one principal tourist information office which is open throughout the year, and then other tourist information points which open during the peak summer months. Due to its location on the fringes of the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean coastline, San Pedro del Pinatar has a period of intense summer tourism activity during the peak summer months, although is popular with retirees of all nationalities out of peak season.
Much of the tourism activity is directed into these peak months, although the Salinas natural park and health tourism hotels in San Pedro del Pinatar make this a popular destination throughout the year.
