ARCHIVED - May 15 Tercios Legend military-style obstacle race in La Azohía
A tough route will see competitors suffer as they take part on the beach of La Azohía
The Tercios Legend event returns to the coastline of Cartagena this weekend, with a series of military-style exercises and obstacles putting competitors to the test on the beaches of La Azohía on Sunday May 15.
Last October the first edition of Tercios Legend, named after one of best-known military units in Spanish history, was held in the port of Cartagena, and this year the innovations are not limited to the change of venue. The test involves 24 obstacles on a 10-kilometre course or 15 on a 6-kilometre course, and competitors will need to make their way past rock walls and negotiate aquatic elements such as canoes and paddle surf boards. In all some 300 metres of the courses are in the Mediterranean.
In addition, all participants will be carrying heavy loads on their backs.
The event begins at 9.30 and over 450 people have already confirmed that they will be taking part, including numerous from outside the Region of Murcia. Late online registrations are welcome here, and further information can be found on the same site (in both Spanish and English).
Spectators are also invited, of course, and there will be entertainment on the beaches during the morning!
