Murcia top winter spot for UK, German and Dutch travellers

According to data released by Jetcost, British, German, and Dutch travellers are keeping Murcia at the top of their search lists this winter

British tourists are once again leading the charge in Murcia. Despite what some international media like to say about tourists turning their backs on Spain, even in December, the UK still shows strong interest in Murcia. Visitors from Germany and the Netherlands are not far behind, with Murcia also high on their list for a winter holiday.

Recent data released by Jetcost, the flight and hotel search engine that tracks millions of searches across Europe, looked at flight searches between December 26, 2025 and January 4, 2026. It found that Murcia ranks 11th for British travellers and 15th for Germans and Dutch, and overall, searches for flights to the city are up 10% compared to last year. Spain comes out on top as the most searched country, beating Italy, France, Portugal, and the UK.

Figures from the INE, Spain’s official statistics institute, show that almost 120,000 British tourists arrived in Murcia during the first half of 2025, staying on average nearly nine days. June was the busiest month, with more than 24,000 British people choosing Murcia, which may have helped push interest in Murcia even higher at the end of the year.

These longer stays and interest during the quieter months are great for the local economy. Restaurants, shops, and even cultural spots stay busy even in the low season. It also shows that Murcia is not a stopover or a weekend destination but a place where people want to spend real time.
