This FREE guided tour explores some of the interesting monuments and locations of historical interest in the centre of Jumilla, including the Teatro Vico Theatre, the Casa modernista de Doña Pepita, the church of El Salvador, the Ayuntamiento or town hall, the Plaza de Arriba, the church of Santiago, Jardín de las Ranas, Arco de San Roque and Puerta de Granada.
The tour also stops outside the Archaeological Museum housing a wide collection of artifacts recovered from the various archaeological excavations undertaken within the municipality, illustrating the long history of Jumilla which contains several prehistoric settlements and an important Iberian settlement and graveyard, the Coimbra del Barranco Ancho and the Ethnographic Museum, home to a large collection of geological specimens and ethnographic materials. Visitors have sufficient time after the tour to either visit one or both of these museums or visit one of the wine bodegas which are included in the Ruta del Vino of Jumilla.
Entry to both of these museums is normally 1 euro, but both are free at the weekend.
The visit lasts for an hour and a half.
