Summer artisan market confirmed for Plaza Bohemia in La Manga
Thirty stalls have been approved and the market will focus entirely on handmade crafts and jewellery during the summer months

The Cartagena City Council has approved a plan to turn its iconic Plaza Bohemia in La Manga into a dedicated artisan market for the summer seasons of 2026 and 2027. The plan will bring 30 stalls selling handmade crafts and jewellery to one of La Manga's busiest summer areas.
The councillor for Commerce, Hospitality and Consumer Affairs said the project is intended to support small artisans and independent entrepreneurs. Plaza Bohemia is already a popular spot for strolling and meeting up with friends and family in the summer, and the artisan market will be a nice addition to the area.
There's already a similar artisan market at the cruise terminal in Cartagena, and the council is using that as a model for La Manga. The artisan market in Cartagena has proved to be very popular, and gives more visibility to handmade products.
The plan is for the market to run each year from June 15 to September 15, during the busiest part of the tourist season. Only artisan goods and jewellery will be allowed for sale, keeping the market dedicated to handmade products rather than a flea market-style setup.
All stalls will be the same size, measuring four by two metres, with a standard design and colour scheme, and enough height for visitors to move through easily.
Spaces will be awarded through a competitive selection process using a points-based system. Applicants must be registered traders, fully up to date with tax and social security payments, and hold valid insurance.
Applications will need to be submitted online through the Cartagena City Council website within ten working days of the official notice being published.
