ARCHIVED - Sunday 17th November: Classic motorcycle race around the urban centre of Cartagena
The XLIII Trofeo Corpus takes place around an urban circuit alongside El Batel
The Moto Club Cartagena is hosting the XLIII Trofeo Corpus de velocidad Ciudad de Cartagena on Sunday 17th November, which is being held over an urban course in the centre of Cartagena, with classic period bikes racing through the principal streets near to the port.
Races are being held in a number of categories(50cc, 80cc,125cc, 250cc and more than 250cc ) over a 600 metre long course which starts at the El Batel Auditorium and continues via calle Pez, la plaza de la Isla, el Paseo Alfonso XII, concluding in calle Pez. Riders will compete the circuit 25 times!
Races are running in the order listed above, the smallest ccs starting the morning off at 10am.
60 riders are confirmed as taking part, most of them from the Las Palas classic motorcycle club,
As this is a representation of a classic race rather than a seriously competitive event, all drivers will be given trophies!
Special attention is being paid to security and although the organisers would be delighted for as many members of the public as possible to turn up and support the event, bales of straw and barriers will prevent the public from wandering onto the race track.
The Moto Club de Cartagena, was founded in 1955, so has been sharing a love of classic bikes for more than 60 years.
The event starts at 10am.
