There are now 65 active covid cases in the Region of Murcia
Tuesday 30th June and tomorrow borders with 13 non-EU nations and Portugal will open, flights will rack up and the official holiday period in Spain begin, many families moving from the cities within the next week to enjoy the cooler weather on the coast.
On Tuesday the number of active cases in the Murcia region increased by four, all of these relating to illegal migrants arriving in small boats, who were intercepted in the waters off the Cartagena coastline on Monday.
Hospital admissions increased from 9 to 12 and there is just one patient remaining in intensive care.
Fatalities remain at 150 as they have done since the 9th June.
The number of cases relating to the outbreak deriving from three Bolivian nationals has remained stable at 32.
The frozen fruit and vegetables processing plant in El Raal in which the last nine cases relating to this outbreak were detected, has been closed to prevent the virus spreading further.
The regional health authority has once requested that the public self-protect by observing the 1.5 metre social distancing rule and wear a mask inside buildings or in situations where public distancing is not possible. If you experience symptoms compatible with Covid-19 (fever, dry cough, tiredness), call 900121212.
