The two men broke into unoccupied holiday homes on the shore of the Mar Menor
Two men have been arrested by the Guardia Civil in connection with a series of burglaries in Los Nietos on the shore of the Mar Menor and face charges of breaking and entering and stealing various items from the homes they targeted.
The investigation leading to the arrests began in 2018, when reports of intermittent burglaries began to be received, and lasted until the latest incident in December 2019. Most of the properties broken into were unoccupied holiday homes and it was soon established that all of the thefts were committed in the same way: the perpetrators entered the homes by climbing up to upstairs balconies and terraces and then forcing doors or windows.
In addition, the incidents all occurred within a very small area, leading to the suspicion that the burglars were resident close by, and eventually the two men aged 23 and 45 were identified and detained: they now face charges related to at least ten burglaries and their case is in the hands of the courts of Cartagena.
