Cloudy skies and possible showers before temperatures rise again: Alicante weekend weather July 2-5
After a slightly cooler and cloudier start, Alicante is expected to see plenty of sunshine as temperatures gradually climb towards the weekend

After a hot June that saw two heatwaves push temperatures well above average, July kicked off with more manageable temperatures across Alicante. Thursday is expected to feel even more comfortable, with plenty of cloud around and the possibility of a few scattered showers in some areas. Enjoy the brief reprieve from the heat while it lasts, as temperatures are expected to creep back up into the mid-30s over the weekend.
Here's a look at the day-by-day forecast for Alicante from July 2 to 5:
Thursday July 2
Thursday will start with plenty of cloud, although skies are expected to clear later in the day. There is a small chance of light rain in the northern parts of the province in the morning, but any showers should be brief. Overnight temperatures will remain warm at around 24°C, while daytime highs are expected to reach around 32-33°C.
Light winds will gradually turn easterly and then south-easterly.
Friday July 3
Friday looks set to be a much brighter day, with mostly sunny skies from start to finish. Overnight temperatures will dip slightly, but daytime temperatures will begin to edge upwards again with highs of around 35°C.
Winds will remain light, becoming mainly south-easterly after lunch.
Saturday July 4
Saturday is expected to bring wall-to-wall sunshine across Alicante. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, making for another warm summer day. Winds will be light throughout, with a gentle easterly to south-easterly breeze developing during the afternoon.
Sunday July 5
Sunday will stay sunny, although some high cloud could drift across inland areas later in the day. Temperatures are expected to reach around 33-35°C across much of Alicante Province, with slightly cooler weather possible in some inland parts of the Valencia region.
Light easterly and south-easterly winds are expected during the afternoon, with lighter and more variable winds at the start and end of the day.
Overall, it is not a bad start to July for Alicante, with temperatures remaining a little more manageable than those seen during June's heatwaves. However, highs in the mid-30s can still be dangerous, particularly for older people, young children and anyone spending long periods outdoors. Remember to stay hydrated, take breaks from the sun during the hottest part of the day and avoid strenuous activity where possible.
While Alicante is not currently under any weather alerts, several other parts of Spain are facing warnings for high temperatures and other adverse weather. As conditions can change quickly at this time of year, it is always worth keeping an eye on updates from your local town hall.
Min and max temperatures in the Alicante Province this weekend:

Thursday July 2: Min 24ºC, Max 33ºC
Friday July 3: Min 22ºC, Max 35ºC
Saturday July 4: Min 22ºC, Max 35ºC
Sunday July 5: Min 21ºC, Max 35ºC
