Luxury tourism sector in Spain continues to bring in huge profits
High-end accommodation witnessed a growth of 23.5% in rates last year
Luxury tourism shows no signs of slowing down any time soon as the high-end accommodation boom continues to grow in Spain. According to data from the eBooking.com platform, in 2024 luxury stays increased by 23.5% per night in price to reach an average 500 euros.
This increase in the rates per night is substantial compared to 2022, where the upper range of accommodation varied from 360 to 450 euros per night. These figures therefore reflect the country’s attractiveness as a destination for people with a great deal of spending power around the world.
The director of eBooking.com Toni Raurich stated the importance of the great five-star resorts that Spain has in relation to the growth in the numbers. “Luxury accommodation has greatly increased in value, consolidating itself as a key player in the tourism market.”
According to the report by eBooking.com, 57.1% of reservations were made by Spanish people, followed by French tourists (9.3%) and Italian tourists (4.4%). The luxury market, however, only accounts for 4.85% of the overall sector of accommodation, but the money it generates is seen to be of vital importance to Spain.
Among the most booked accommodations of the year, establishments that combine exclusive services and privileged locations stand out. Some of the favourites were the Hotel W Barcelona, known for its avant-garde design and views of the Mediterranean.
Other favourites of tourists in the high-end market were the Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa in Alicante, offering an authentic Asian oasis on the Costa Blanca and is a great place for holiday makers to truly relax on the Mediterranean; the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza, which combines luxury and music; the Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa in Las Palmas, ideal for rest and relaxation in Gran Canaria.; and the Valentín Sancti Petri in Cádiz is a famed hotel on the beautiful coastline in the south of the country.
Finally, the Hotel Alfonso XIII in Sevilla also stands out for its elegance and exclusivity in the heart of the Andalusian capital. The hotel has a charm that predates modern Spain and transports the traveller back into the elegance of a bygone era.
