Ryanair expands at Alicante Airport with three new summer destinations

Fly from the Costa Blanca to Eastern and Central Europe for as little as €21.99

Alicante-Elche airport has been lucky enough to dodge the cuts that Ryanair is planning at several Spanish airports in protest against the fees charged by Spain’s airport management company, Aena. This is hardly surprising given that the Costa Blanca’s tourism appeal is going from strength to strength and it’s worth a pretty penny to Ryanair, which is the undisputed airline leader at Alicante.

As one of Ryanair's largest bases in Spain, Alicante will see 18 aircraft in operation this summer, representing a substantial investment of $1.8 billion (approximately €1.715 billion). The airline's activities in the area also generate around 6,500 jobs thanks to the influx of tourists it brings, according to the company's estimates.

And the good news continues, with the Irish airline’s announcement that it’s introducing three exciting new destinations from the Costa Blanca this summer.

The new routes, which include Bydgoszcz in Poland and Linz and Salzburg in Austria, reflect the growing demand from Eastern and Central European markets. This expansion not only benefits tourists visiting the Costa Blanca but also offers locals the opportunity to explore these exciting destinations.

Ryanair's decision to increase its presence in Alicante comes as a welcome surprise, given the airline's plans to cull more than 800,000 seats at other regional airports in Spain. The company has been vocal in its criticism of what it perceives as "excessive taxes" imposed by Aena and the lack of policies to incentivise passenger growth in these areas.

To celebrate the launch of its 2025 summer schedule in Alicante, Ryanair is offering fares from as low as €21.99 for travel until the end of June, available for booking until February 28.

According to Elena Cabrera, a company spokesperson, "Ryanair is delighted to announce the Alicante summer schedule, which includes three exciting new routes to Bydgoszcz (Poland), Linz and Salzburg (Austria). This summer, Ryanair will operate 90 routes in total, providing customers with more options to enjoy memorable travel experiences during this incredible season."
