The La Estacada botanical garden in Jumilla

A beautiful park just outside the town of Jumilla
The Jardín Botánico de La Estacada in Jumilla is located approximately one kilometre south of the built-up area of the town alongside the C-3314 road (also known as the RM-714) which leads to Cieza, Calasparra and Caravaca de la Cruz.

Occupying an area of around 20,000 square metres, it features magnificent conifers and has become one of the most popular gardens of its kind in the Region of Murcia. In all there over 150 species of ornamental plants, trees, flowers and shrubs contained inside, and in consequence the garden is also home to a large number of bird species.
Alongside the conifers, there are also cacti, agaves and palm trees, proving that although these are not found in the wild they are perfectly capable of surviving the conditions in the Altiplano area of the Region of Murcia!

Visitors do not normally come to Jumilla in order to see the botanical garden, but it really is a lovely place to stop off and wind down for a while. Summer opening hours are from 8.00 to 22.00, while during the rest of the year the park closes earlier, at 20.00.
